Colonel Daniel W. Harlow

Colonel Daniel W. Harlow is presently assigned as the Director of Staff - Air, Louisiana National Guard, Jackson Barracks, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Col Harlow graduated the United States Air Force Academy in May 1998 where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He received his commission from the Air Force Academy and completed technical school as a logistics planner at Lackland AFB, Texas in July 1998. Col Harlow began his military career in the 18th Logistics Support Squadron at Kadena Air Base, Japan from 1998 to 2001. While there, he served as the Chief of Deployments, Chief of Plans and Programs, and deployed to Eskan Village, Saudi Arabia as part of the Joint Task Force-South West Asia in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH. In 2001, he transferred to Andrews AFB, Maryland to become the Functional Manager for logistics plans as part of the ANG Readiness Center. During this tour, Col Harlow assisted in standing up the ANG Crisis Action Team in support of the Global War on Terrorism. In May 2003, Col Harlow separated from active duty and joined the 159th Maintenance Squadron, Louisiana ANG as a maintenance officer. Upon arrival, Col Harlow was detailed to the Logistics Readiness Flight to get the wing ready for the upcoming inspection. In April 2004, he transferred to the 159th Logistics Readiness Squadron as the Installation Deployment Officer. During the Katrina activation, Col Harlow served in the J4 supporting the relief operation at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans. After Katrina, he went back to preparing the wing for the upcoming Phase 1 Operational Readiness Inspection in March 2008. In May of 2008, Col Harlow deployed to Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. There he served as the Operations Officer of the 376th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron. Upon his return from the deployment in November of 2008, Col Harlow was assigned as the 159th Fighter Wing Executive Officer. He served in this position until September of 2009 when he was selected as the Project Officer for the Phase 2 Operational Readiness Inspection. Col Harlow led the wing to the culmination of that inspection in April of 2010. In May of 2010, Col Harlow assumed command of the 159th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. During this time, he led the squadron through numerous deployments overseas and stateside to include AEF deployments.
