COLONEL JONATHAN D. MUMME
Commander, 159th Fighter Wing

Col Jonathan D. Mumme is the Commander, 159th Fighter Wing, Louisiana Air National Guard, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans, Louisiana.  As Wing Commander, he is responsible for formulating, developing and coordinating all policies, plans and programs affecting more than 1,500 Louisiana Air National Guard Airmen and civilians throughout the State.
 
Col Mumme received his commission in 1999 from the Reserve Officers Training Corps at Texas State University and his Air Force Wings in 2001 from Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin Air Force Base, TX.  He began his operational flying career in the F-15C Eagle at Eglin AFB, FL where he served as an Instructor Pilot.  He transitioned to the F-16 Fighting Falcon for the 64th Aggressor Squadron providing adversary support to numerous exercises at Nellis AFB, NV, including Red Flag, USAF Weapons School Mission Employment and both Operational and Developmental Test.  He served as initial cadre for the 18th Aggressor Squadron at Eielson AFB, AK bringing professional adversary capability to the newly formed Red Flag-Alaska exercises.  Col Mumme transferred into the 159th Fighter Wing, Louisiana Air National Guard in 2010 and graduated from the USAF Weapons School in 2012.  He has served as the Program Manager, Chief of Weapons and Tactics, Director of Operations of the 122d Fighter Squadron, Commander of the 159th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, and Commander of the 159th Operations Group.  Col Mumme has flown 62.9 combat hours over Iraq, during Operations Southern Watch and IRAQI FREEDOM.  He commands LA ANG forces when conducting DSCA operations in order to mitigate loss of life and property.  Prior to assuming his current position, Col Mumme served as the 159th Fighter Wing’s Vice Commander.
